Car info: I found my car while
driving to work in 1997. It was sitting on the street next to South
High
School's parking lot. It never moved, so I pulled in to look at it. The
woman who owned it come home as I was looking at it. She said she had
stopped driving it as the carb needed rebuilt, it only had a partial
exhaust system on it, and someone had broken the steering column in an
attempt to steal it, but ran when the unmuffled V8 roared to live. She
took my phone number and said if she wanted to
sell it she would call me. The next afternoon she called and said she
wanted $600 for the car, if I bought it right way. I drove over, paid
her, got it to start, and drove it home with a terrible ringing in my
ears. I quickly dove into the project, despite the
fact that my only work area was an apartmant garage, with no power.
The tired engine was removed, and the car was taken down to the bare
frame. Six years later the car was ready for a trip to the body
shop. It received a new set of rear quarters, and block sanded many
times to ensure that everything was laser straight, and finally painted
Daytona Yellow. The vehicle has a set of HP Motorsports upper and lower
control arms and Eibach springs. Also installed were a tilt steering
column, disk brakes, A/C, power windows and locks. The car was finally
finished in 2005. |
