43rd Annual Rocky Manginelli Memorial Swap meet is Sunday March 6th at Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln, 12 HCC members have volunteered to work at the event. Money earned working this event will be used for our Car Show in 2017. At the last Car Council Meeting a motion was made and was seconded to not do this swap meet any longer, due to the difficulty in obtaining volunteers to work the swap meet and the rising cost of facility rental. The motion has been tabled until the next Car Council Meeting on March 16th in Lincoln. World of Wheels has 13 registrations from club members. To participate, your club dues must be paid prior to the event. Motion made and seconded to pay the $3.00 per HCC member, the seed money (for the 29th Annual Regional Show) to the Mid America Car Club. Motion passed. Next meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 20th, during the World of Wheels show. Plan on a 12:00 or 1:00 meeting at the Mattress Factory in downtown Omaha. April 17th meeting will be held at Quaker Steak and Lube in Council Bluffs. Discussion about the 29th Midwest Chevelle Regional show in Kansas City, September 23/24. Greg suggested that those attending plan on being there a day early, therefore September 22nd, to help set up and learn what it takes to better prepare us for our club hosting the 2017 event. Hotels are not offering any special rates, but lodging can be found by going to the Mid America Chevelle Club website (www.MidAmericaChevelles.com). As info, a limo service will be available on Friday and Saturday to provide transportation within the Legends Village Shopping area. Greg provided a summarized update on the 2017 show that the HCC club is hosting. To bring folks up to speed on locations, here is the information we currently have: Baxter Arena lot rental $5,000.00 and would include power, tables and limited security. Mid America Center total for 3 days $3125.00 with everything else negotiable. Shadow Lake is very interested in us hosting a show at their facility. No charge for using their parking lot. LaVista (off of I80 and Giles, in the Cabelas parking area) is interested and is to provide Greg with final financial information, and hotel room rental to offset any additional cost. Lancaster Event Center is another possible area, and that the Lincoln Visitor's bureau will provide us with a $1000.00 grant towards the event. Suggestion also made that when the cost numbers are finalized, that the show committee meet at each considered location to discuss the pros and cons of each area. Mike Tesar showed the Chevelle books that he purchased last year, to remind folks that those that did not purchase there are still some available. Next week he will submit a invoice for those that have not been paid for so he can be reimbursed by the club, and will hold these extra books in inventory until the club decides their use. Bob VonKaenel alerted the members that he can still provide HCC jackets via his source for $65.00 should members want to order them. Next meeting March 20, 2016. Meeting
was adjourned via motion by Jay Johnson. |
